Poem: ‘The School Bell’s Echo’ By Amina Kamara

Beneath the acacia, where shadows play,
A child dreams of learning, far away.
Books are scarce, the classroom bare,
Yet hope lingers softly in the air.

A continent vast, with wisdom deep,
Yet promises made, we struggle to keep.
For some, the pen is mightier than strife,
For others, a desk is a distant life.

Teachers toil with hearts ablaze,
In crowded rooms, through endless days.
But their voices, strong, begin to fade,
Without the tools their craft has made.

Girls stand silent, held by chains,
Of early marriage, cultural reins.
But their eyes, they burn, with fierce desire,
To break the binds and rise up higher.

From Cairo’s sands to the Cape’s breeze,
Across the rivers, through ancient trees,
The call for equity rings so clear,
An education for all, year by year.

Africa, rise, let the school bell sound,
In every village, let dreams abound.
For in the mind of each child we see,
The future’s light, our destiny.
